A note from Tapan

“The place is beautiful — no doubt. But the experience felt too commercial for me. Loud music, crowd, and group behavior took away the peace I expect in the mountains.”

What I experienced

Dayara Bugyal is one of the most beautiful meadow treks in Uttarakhand. Wide green fields, open skies, and mountain views — everything looks perfect.

I went with a trek company (Trek 360, ~₹6000 from Dehradun), and the journey was well managed.

But what I didn’t like was how commercial it has become. Too many groups, loud music, people dancing at campsites — it didn’t feel like a mountain experience anymore.

Trekking, for me, is about silence, nature, and disconnecting from noise. But here, it felt like people brought the noise with them.

Still, I won’t say don’t go — the place itself is genuinely beautiful. Just try to go at a time when it’s less crowded or do it in a quieter way.

Local tips

Things I'd tell a friend before they go.

  • Go in off-season or weekdays to avoid crowd.
  • Avoid loud groups — it affects the whole experience.
  • Best experienced in silence — respect nature.
  • You can do this trek solo (route is manageable).
  • Carry light — it’s a beginner-friendly trek.
  • Choose trek company carefully — group behavior matters a lot.
  • Don’t treat mountains like a party place.
