A note from Tapan

“Friendship Peak is not a casual trek. It’s the point where you realize mountains demand respect. Preparation, mindset, and patience matter more than anything.”

What I experienced

Friendship Peak is very different from regular treks. It’s not about walking and enjoying — it’s about pushing your limits.

The altitude, the cold, and the terrain make everything harder. Even simple tasks feel heavy.

Snow sections, long climbs, and unpredictable weather make this a serious experience.

This is where you understand that mountains are not just beautiful — they are powerful.

If you’re not prepared, it can be overwhelming. But if you are, it becomes one of the most rewarding experiences.

Day by day

How the days actually went.

  1. 01

    Day 1

    Delhi → Manali

Overnight bus from Delhi to Manali. Reached and rested. Used Manali as base for preparation.

  2. 02

    Day 2

    Manali → Base camp (Solang)

Reached Solang Valley and started trek towards base camps. Initial trail through forest and open areas.

  3. 03

    Day 3

    Acclimatization & higher camps

Moved to higher altitude camps. Acclimatization is very important. Slow movement and rest required.

  4. 04

    Day 4

    Snow sections & preparation

Practice with gear (crampons, ice axe). Terrain becomes more technical.

  5. 05

    Day 5

    Summit attempt

Early morning summit push. Long, steep climb in snow. Requires endurance and mental strength.

  6. 06

    Day 6

    Descend

Return to lower camps after summit or attempt. Easier but still physically demanding.

  7. 07

    Day 7

    Back to Manali → return

Return to Manali and take bus back to Delhi.
