A note from Tapan
“I didn’t just travel here — I connected with this place. The people, the pace, the simplicity… it made me think that one day, I want to build a small homestay here and be part of this life.”
What I experienced
Jibhi wasn’t just another trip for me. It felt different from the moment I arrived — not because of the views, but because of the people.
The locals here are some of the sweetest I’ve met. No rush, no attitude, just simple conversations and genuine warmth.
I stayed between Jibhi and Shoja, exploring both sides. Jibhi is calm, but Shoja feels even deeper and untouched.
Most days had no plan — just walking, sitting near the river, or talking to locals. Those simple days felt the most complete.
At one point, I realized — this isn’t just a place I want to visit again. It’s a place I want to build something in.
Day by day
How the days actually went.
- 00
Day 0
Delhi → Aut → Jibhi
Overnight bus from Delhi to Aut. From Aut, took a local cab/shared vehicle to Jibhi (1.5–2 hrs). Reached by afternoon, checked into homestay, and spent evening near the river.
- 01
Day 1
Explore Jibhi & local cafes
Slow morning. Walked around Jibhi village, visited small cafés, explored wooden bridges and nearby forest trails. No fixed plan — just exploring freely.
- 02
Day 2
Shoja & Jalori Pass
Took a ride to Shoja (30–40 mins). Continued to Jalori Pass (10,800 ft). Cold, windy, and peaceful. Spent time there and returned by evening.
- 03
Day 3
Tirthan Valley exploration
Visited Tirthan Valley side — riverside walks, small villages, and peaceful spots. Less touristy, more raw nature.
- 04
Day 4
Return — Jibhi → Aut → Delhi
Left early morning from Jibhi to Aut. Boarded bus/train back to Delhi. Long journey, but didn’t feel like leaving.
Local tips
Things I'd tell a friend before they go.
- Talk to locals — they are genuinely helpful and kind.
- Stay in homestays for better experience than hotels.
- Carry cash — ATMs are unreliable in Jibhi.
- Start Jalori hikes early for better views and less crowd.
- Evenings get cold even in summer — carry warm clothes.
- Avoid monsoon season due to landslides.
