A note from Tapan
“Sissu is not for everyone — but if it connects, you’ll never forget it. Clean air, quiet nights, and a sky full of stars.”
What I experienced
I stopped at Sissu after Manali — just a 2-day stay, but it felt completely different from the usual Himachal spots.
Crossing Atal Tunnel changes the landscape instantly. It feels raw, open, and less crowded.
Sissu is quiet. No chaos, no loud cafés — just mountains, clean air, and space.
The waterfall here is beautiful — and you can even reach it through a zipline, which makes the experience different.
But the best part was the night. Clear sky, no light pollution, and full stargazing. That’s something you don’t easily get in crowded places.
This place is not special for everyone — but for the right kind of traveler, it becomes unforgettable.
Day by day
How the days actually went.
- 01
Day 1

Overnight bus from Delhi to Manali. Stayed for a short halt. Manali felt crowded and busy.
- 02
Day 2
Manali → Atal Tunnel → Sissu
Crossed Atal Tunnel and reached Sissu (1–1.5 hrs). Landscape changes completely after the tunnel. Checked into stay and explored nearby areas.
- 03
Day 3

- 04

Returned back via Atal Tunnel to Manali and continued journey back.
Local tips
Things I'd tell a friend before they go.
- Use Manali only as a halt — not the main stay.
- Stay options are limited — book in advance.
- Food is slightly expensive but worth it due to remote location.
- Must try: Local Himachali food in small cafés or homestays.
- Don’t miss stargazing — one of the best experiences here.
- Visit Sissu waterfall and try zipline if available.
- This place is best for people who enjoy silence and slow travel.
