A note from Tapan
“I stayed here for just 2 days, so I didn’t explore everything — but what I saw was enough to recommend it as a stop if you’re already coming to Dharamshala or McLeodganj.”
What I experienced
Bir isn’t a place I explored deeply — I stayed for 2 days, but it left a good impression.
It’s calm, slightly less crowded, and has a very relaxed vibe. You’ll see a mix of travelers, cafés, and open spaces.
The main highlight here is paragliding — you’ll see people flying almost all day, and the landing site has a very lively feel.
Apart from that, it’s more about slow time — café hopping, walking around, and just enjoying the view.
If you’re already visiting Dharamshala or McLeodganj, adding Bir makes sense — it’s on the same route and gives a slightly different experience.

Local tips
Things I'd tell a friend before they go.
- Best combined with Dharamshala/McLeodganj trip — same route.
- Paragliding is the main activity here — try if weather is clear.
- Stay near landing site for better access to cafés and vibe.
- Must try: Café food (Tibetan + continental options available).
- Hidden/underrated: Explore nearby monasteries and quiet village roads away from main landing area.
- Weather changes quickly — mornings are best for activities.
