A note from Tapan
“Rishikesh (Tapovan) is my default reset place. I’ve been here multiple times — not for sightseeing, but for the vibe, the people, and the feeling of just being.”
What I experienced
Rishikesh is not just a place I visited — it’s a place I keep going back to.
Tapovan especially has a different energy. You walk around and easily 6 out of 10 people are foreigners. It doesn’t feel like a typical Indian town.
Café hopping became my routine here. Sitting for hours with coffee, looking at the mountains, watching people come and go.
What made it special for me was the people. I met travelers from Spain, Australia, Japan, Israel, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam — and had real conversations.
You learn a lot from them — how they see travel, how they live, how differently they think.
Some of them even invited me to visit their countries — jokingly, I feel like I already have free stays booked worldwide now.
Evenings at the ghats are simple but powerful. Sitting quietly, sipping ginger lemon honey tea, watching the Ganga flow — that’s enough.
