A note from Tapan
“I went to Goa thinking it’s all party, crowd, and rude behavior. But South Goa completely changed that. Calm beaches, genuinely sweet people, and a very different vibe.”
What I experienced
Goa has a stereotype — parties, noise, reels, and crowd. That’s mostly North Goa.
South Goa is different. It’s peaceful, less crowded, and feels more real.
I stayed around Palolem, and the vibe was completely opposite of what I expected.
Locals were actually very sweet and helpful — not rude at all.
I also explored Vasco — the roads, the greenery, and the quiet surroundings made the whole experience better.
This trip changed my idea of Goa — it’s not one thing, it’s two completely different worlds.

Local tips
Things I'd tell a friend before they go.
- Stay in South Goa if you want peace — North Goa is crowded and party-focused.
- Rent a scooty from Madgaon — best way to explore.
- Must try: Goan fish thali, prawn curry, and local seafood at small beach shacks.
- Food cost: ₹200–₹400 per meal (local), ₹400–₹700 (cafés/shacks).
- Try kayaking at Palolem — simple but good experience.
- Skip: Butterfly Beach & Monkey Island — not worth the hype.
- Explore nearby beaches — many are less crowded and cleaner.
- Best time: Early morning and sunset — calm and less crowd.
